Russia’s pellet output in 2014 was 25% higher than a year earlier at 892,800 t. According to information from Russian Discovery Research Group, 63% of the pellets were produced in northwest Russia. Pellet works in the oblast of Leningrad accounted for 35% of the Russian output. The share of Russian pellet output produced by the oblasts of Archangelsk and Irkutsk is going to rise both this year and next. This year, two of the three pellet works of the Archangelsk Sawmill 25 group will be producing for a full twelve months for the first time with a capacity of around 230,000 tpy. In Irkutsk, three pellet works with a combined capacity of 230,000 tpy are to be put into service at the end of this year.
