Grupo Insud said that the FRESA plant in Gobernador Virasoro will use wood chips, sawdust, pine and eucalyptus bark, as well as dry wood and forest materials that are currently not used for industrial purposes. Its electricity will account for 10%-15% of the total electricity consumption in Corrientes.
The 40MW biomass power generation project will be put into use in the final phase of construction in the province of Corrientes, Argentina, within six months, local media said last week.
Steam turbine generator sets, boilers, biomass raw material warehouses, substations and ancillary equipment have been built at the construction site.
The project is led by Fuentes Renovables de Energia SA (FRESA), a group of Grupo Benicio and Grupo Insud. This is also the first renewable energy project of the Argentine company Grupo Insud. Grupo Insud is engaged in a comprehensive business from pharmaceuticals to agriculture.
FRESA has invested approximately $60 million (52.8 million euros) in the project.
